Have you ever heard Kansei-Kachi? Japanese Kansei-Kachi got worldwide reputation when “Kansei-Japan Design Exhibition” held at Musee des Arts Decoratifs Paris as part of events celebrating the 150th anniversary of French-Japanese diplomatic relations.
Japanese people are often impressed not just with products themselves but also with background of products such as process of making, history, or kindness of designers. This is Japanese original sense of value, “Kansei-Kachi”.
We, Machida Hiroko Academy, designed a new product named “Onglass” table. And this unique product was selected for Kansei-Kachi Design exhibition held at central Aoyama city from 23rd to 28th of last January. “On” means “warm” in Japanese.
Onglass that is patented by Japan is the newest glass ever that can generate heat and warm itself up without visible appliance! We designed a table used this Onglass and we call this product a new type Kotatsu, a traditional Japanese table with a heater and a blanket.
This product is eco-friendly because this can warm the air efficiently without any pollution. Do you imagine that? See through glass may warm your heart and legs soon!

The world wide universal design movement has been more and more popular, and we can often find opportunities of reconsider our environmental issues recently. This Kansei-Kachi exhibition is one of them. We refined our traditional design “Kotatsu” and created a brand-new value. And it is important for our lives. Don’t you think so?
